Following the recent material experimentations with concrete and inflatable objects, I've been working on building a 4m diameter inflatable geodesic dome space 'The Balloon', facilitating workshops, talks, happenings and performances over the coming months.
The space will be a fun, creative and surreal space, as the white bubble space it creates is a calm utopia in amongst Manchester’s sprawling industrial landscape. This project is ambitious and bold, involving immense technical work building the space, but also in the role of facilitator, host and performer. It’s a political act for a young person to own a space in a highly gentrified Manchester; also something that my collective Get It Done battles against constantly.
The dome is currently under construction, yet I have created concept designs, and a prototype. I experimented with projecting films in the prototype inflatable.
