I run the arts collective and community organisation Get It Donerunning creative events in Manchester since 2017. We aim to make the arts accessible to wider audiences, encourage creativity and work with underserved communities sparking social change.
We’ve been committed to injecting a youthful energy in Manchester’s visual arts scene since December 2017. We facilitate communities with opportunities for interaction, dialogue and creativity, whilst maintaining our fun and fresh ethos.
Born out of a frustration with the flatness of the contemporary Manchester art scene, and our concerns about gentrification and art elitism, we’re concerned with the migration of young creatives leaving Manchester after graduation, perhaps due to lack of opportunity, and strive to provide a platform for creatives to reach audiences inaccessible to them. We believe that the key to unlocking Manchester’s imaginative potential and helping our creative economy flourish is to tackle this. The migration has a massive impact on our creative economy and by tackling that we can encourage graduates to help us unlock Manchester’s creative potential.
