Reading for my dissertation on performance, ritual and social change I read about how "activists and social change makers turn their 'fears and anxieties' in 'outrage and moral indignation' against concrete objects". I was interested in this relationship between concrete objects and ideas and inflatables, so I continued experimenting with the two.
I made a short and surreal film Concrete Objects (2018) with Sam O'Leary questioning the self, emotions, and activism against societies concrete ideas. It was my first real experience of performance in a bold setting (Manchester Art Gallery and the Holden Gallery), and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
